Knowing that BTA injection is the most popular non surgical treatment in the USA, as shown by the American Plastic and Aesthetic medicine Association 2010 statistics, it is of no surprise that the manufacturer of BTA has seen a lot of new players.
These new BTA products are up and coming and awaits approval from respective controlling bodies.
In Malaysia, the only BTA products that are registered with the Ministry of Health are “BOTOX®” and “Dysport®”, at the moment. I foresee that it is just a matter of time before the newer players get themselves registered at our shores.

According to statistics released by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in year 2010, the demand for cosmetic surgery procedures increased around 9%. The Aesthetic Society, which has collected multi-specialty procedural statistics since 1997, says the overall number of cosmetic procedures has increased 155 percent since the tracking of the statistics first began.
Almost 9.5 million cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures were performed in the United States in 2010.
The most frequently performed surgical procedure was breast augmentation and the most popular nonsurgical procedure was injections of Botulinum Toxin Type A (including Botox and Dysport).

医学美容，疗程前的建议
最近很多在报章上有类似的新闻，关于各种整容后的后遗症。有的时候，看了类似的新闻，都会对这些受害者们捏一把冷汗，真的是花钱受苦了。
在这里，也给有心想要让自己更好看更漂亮的人们，一些建议。
第一，找合格的医生。
治疗的成果将会在我们每天要见人的脸孔上，如果你不介意或有心要让你的医生朋友学习，那是最好；不然，最好找有经验的，再不然，错误发生后知道如何去找一个经验丰富懂得改善错误的医生。原因，如果肉毒杆菌素的注射，效果是6个月！
如何寻找有经验的医生？朋友们的口碑，友人的介绍，也可以摸上门去找几个医生问一问，接受Consultation，再看一看那一个自己觉得可以信任的，才接受治疗；通常，有些医生的第一次Consultation是免付费的。
第二，有质量的产品
记得要问清楚自己将会接受治疗的用品，或器材是什么，然后确保是要有质量保证的产品。原因很简单，东西是打在脸上身上，你愿意接受一个来历不明的产品注射 在自己脸上吗？好的产品也许价钱会贵一些，不过若钱包羞涩的话，就先努力储蓄，可不要为了省一些钱，结果最后花钱买罪受，没有效 果还好，怕的是反效果或后遗症就糟糕和辛苦了。
第三，去一个安全的地方。
应该在对的地方，接受正确的治疗。整形手术永远要在合格的注册诊所或医院进行。医学美容也一样，要在卫生部有注册的诊所接受疗程，有什么问题，可以良好的善后；可不要在一些不合格不合规划的地方接受治疗，万一有什么后遗症，你想要投诉也没有良好的管道和投诉对象。
第四，自己先做一些调查，看看自己究竟要的是什么，心里有一些谱了，才从正确的管道寻找对的地点和合格的医生寻求帮助。
当然，还有其他很多应该注意的地方，下次再谈，希望在将来，医学美容可以蓬勃发展，大家都可以在正确的管道安全的方式保持青春，抗老成功，或美丽的慢慢变老。

This is the COEX, the place where the World Congress of Dermatology was held. The World Congress of Dermatology or better known as the WCD is held every 4 yearly. It forms a platform whereby doctors who dabbles with dermatology, be it dermatologist, plastic surgeons and aesthtetic doctors, congregate to exchange ideas and to learn new advances in the trade, in the hope to bring better care and better outcome in their daily practice. I was very lucky to be participating in a congress of such magnitude.
I attended the congress with much enthusiasm, likened to a sponge wanting to absorb as much as possible. Some countries are more technologically advanced than others while the not so technologically advanced countries made it up by being innovative in their ways of treatment.
In every way, there is always a learning experience awaiting us. Listening to a talk from a country which is less advanced than ours does not necessarily mean that we will gain nothing. Instead listen with an open mind and many a times, we may find it rewarding. We can do more with less resources. All in all there are many things to be learnt and I love the learning bits.

A Trip to Korea
23/5/2011 i plan a trip to Korea.
Korea is one of the two countries that I admire. The other being Japan. The country has experienced tremendous growth over the past twenty years. Much of the growth actually stemmed from the culture. Hard working, innovative, respect to other individual and being humble. The culture and the quality imbued over the years has made them one of the forerunners in many fields, amongst other, automative, electronics and also in the field of aesthetic medicine
Undoubtedly, the Koreans are very good in aesthetics in terms of technology and innovativeness in the available treatments.
It’s time to we emulate their spirit and upgrade Malaysia’s aesthetic platform as well.
Korea, here i come...
